Powder Peak: a free 3D downhill ski game
Powder Peak is a relaxed but skill-based skiing game that runs in your browser. Every run is a real downhill course on a snowy mountain: carve your own line through the gates, leave tracks in the snow, avoid the trees and rocks and catch air off the kickers.
How to play
- Hold the left or right half of the screen to turn. On a computer use ← → or A and D.
- Hold ↑ to push and tuck for speed, ↓ to brake. On a phone you tuck automatically when you ride straight.
- Hold Space to charge a jump and release to take off; the longer you charge, the higher you go. On a phone use the JUMP button.
- Pass between every pair of gate flags. A missed gate adds 2 seconds.
- In the air, hold left or right to spin, and hold ↑ or Space for a grab. Land facing forward or backward (switch) for a clean landing and trick points; a sideways landing only slows you down.
- Before you start, pick a rider, your gear (skis or snowboard), the camera (close, normal or far) and graphics (high or battery saver). The snowboard spins faster and jumps a little higher; skis glide a little faster.
- You have 3 hearts. Every crash (a tree, a rock or a very hard landing) costs one heart and a little time; lose all three and the run is over.
Runs
- Sunrise Meadow: wide and gentle, made for learning.
- Pine Valley: a forest run with tighter gates.
- Twilight Ridge: steep and narrow, with rocks and drop-offs.
- Free Ride: a new endless mountain every time, no timer.
